Day 18 - Temptation
I am suddenly seized by a wild desire to abandon my NaNo for Moonstruck. Gah, D: Help me, O Lord. Save me from the fury of temptation.
xD
I'm here in the library (my last day as volunteer, as my family will be moving in two weeks and there's a good deal of packing that must be done, that does not allow me to spend another moment in this treasured place), scrolling through the files in my Google Docs, glancing now and then through particular ones. I just had to click on some notes I made for Moonstruck's progression, and just had to be awed by how much more tightly that plot is wound compared to the sprawling, plotless mess that is my NaNo (current status: uglier than my 2007 NaNo. God, really. A bit of help here?). Must resist urge to write fanfiction. Cannot write fanfiction until December 1st...
(Though I probably won't be writing much fanfiction even then. I'm going to finish my NaNo, come hell or high water or writer's block, and then I want to start another idea that's been nagging at me. So many ideas, so little time. Or patience. I could do with more patience.)
I'll probably give in and start another chapter of Moonstruck today, xD Oh well. As long as I finish a scene in my NaNo, and start advancing the story.
I'm considering dropping my fixation upon word count, come November 20th. The obsession hasn't done me any good; I'm wordpadding despite myself and the story hasn't moved. I may have to be strict, now: 1000 words per scene. My outline is designed to carry me through 100k if I just stick with 1k/scene. I will have to try it. Because Agatha will not shut up and I am still writing her introductory scene.
Discipline, where hast thou fled?

Remember how much optimism you had about this year's NaNo piece? Especially upon reflecting your others (which still must have been marvels, since writing a novel in a month is EPIC, anyway)?
Don't despair! This is an immense project, but you have worked on it, before! You wrote over 50,000 words to a story, last year (I believe), and, this time, you will write the ending that you've wanted for this piece!
Haha, my encouragement is like any other that would be given to you, but perhaps it's at least a little bit of the motivation you need, right now :).
Keep going!!
